The Pleasure of the Moment
The Pleasure of the Moment

A cherry orchard in full bloom. The end of a perfect day. The last bite of dessert. Each of these things have one thing in common...they can't last. They will end soon. And yet while it does last, we can savor it and use the time wisely to appreciate what is, right now in the present moment. If we think ahead, we lose the enjoyment of that moment. We live in a kind of fear that we shall never see an orchard as beautiful or a sunset so glorious and we become anxious, rather than enjoying the transient pleasure. So here , in this painting The moment is captured and I can return to it again and again when I look at the painting. I recall the golden glow of the lowering sun as it gilds the blossoms.
Sometimes, as I paint, i am simply painting and I, as a separate entity, no longer exist as I enjoy the pleasure of the process.
